The Red Witch Part 3

Roque prepared to peer into the life of The Red Witch again. He made himself comfortable, then allowed the dark smoke to fill his eyes. He flipped through the years like they were mere pages of a book…

Seventeen year old Alexandria was truly stunning. She had always had that flawless olive complexion, smooth as fresh tears; the raven mane that bordered on blue black, which fell in an inky waterfall down over her shoulders; and now her body had filled out with womanly curves, enticing breasts, with a definite flair of her hips.

It amused her how much attention she received, most of which, she wouldn’t even acknowledge. She had taken her first lover two years ago. He was a man, ten years her senior, because she wanted someone who knew what they were doing. Bleh. She should have measured his cock before they got started.

Alexandria had taken two additional lovers since losing her virginity, with far more success. What she had concluded, though, was that Power, was far more arousing to her than anything else.

There was a traveling show in town, and Alexandria was curious about it. Or, well, more to the point, she was hoping it would provide a small dose of relief to the constant boredom she lived with each day. Wearing a shiny blue dress of the finest material the town had, courtesy of some idiot who was seeking her favor, she stood and watched the show. It was a lot of singing and dancing, boring! What a waste of her time!

A whisper caressed the shell of Alexandria’s ear. “Not too impressed, I see. I know what you are…Witch.” The voice was female.

Alexandria had gone to great lengths to keep her powers hidden, limiting her kills. Casually, she peered over her shoulder and met the green eyes of a very pretty woman. She sensed dark power in her, one witch recognizing another, she realized. She immediately wanted to kill her. “If what you say is true, shouldn’t you be worried?” Her tone was teasing.
The woman smiled. “Not at all. You are too young to be a threat to me, Alexandria. Yes, I know your name. I am Sabata, and I’m about to change your life…” She smoothed strands of her fiery tresses out of her face, without ever losing eye contact. “You have only scratched the surface of your power, Girl. But I’m gonna change that…”

May 17th 1954: Brown v. Board of Education

On this day in 1954, the US Supreme Court handed down its unanimous decision in the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. The decision declared segregation on grounds of race in schools unconstitutional. The ruling overturned the 1896 decision Plessy v. Ferguson which allowed segregation under the doctrine ‘separate but equal’. The case had been bought by African-American parents, including Oliver L. Brown, against Topeka’s educational segregation. It was argued before the Court by the chief legal counsel of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP): Thurgood Marshall, who became the first African-American Supreme Court justice in 1967. The Court, led by Chief Justice Earl Warren, declared that segregation violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The landmark decision is considered the start of the Civil Rights Movement which led to racial integration and full legal rights for African-Americans.

“We conclude that, in the field of public education, the doctrine of ‘separate but equal’ has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal”
- Warren’s opinion for the Court
